Can You Still Breast Feed With Implants
Can I breastfeed with breast implants?
QUESTIONSUnfortunately Lactation Consultant,I breastfed my two children, now seven and three years, without problems. I've got breast implants about a year and half ago and I wondered whether I could expect problems breastfeeding with implants.I am five weeks pregnant and I really wanted to breastfeed the baby as well.Tracy
ANSWER
Hi Tracy,Any woman who has had breast, chest, or heart surgery should check with the surgeon to see if there is a functional breast tissue is affected by the procedure. Breast augmentation usually does not involve cutting the milk ducts or breast tissue functional damage, and are usually compatible with lactation. On the other hand, breast reduction is more invasive surgery that almost always has an adverse effect on lactation.Anytime surgeons perform invasive surgery on the breast, there is the possibility of damage to the milk ducts, and some women who have implants are not having problems with milk supply, plugged channels , and swelling. These problems are usually quite small, and rarely prevent mothers from breastfeeding success.
Much depends on whether or not the surgeons who perform the procedure make deliberate attempts to leave the blood supply and nerve pathways intact. If the incision is made around the areola, not under the breast or armpit, then there is more than the risk of feeding problems and loss of sensation.
Most current implants filled with saline rather than silicone. There has been much concern about silicone implants leaked into the milk, but research shows that small risks and benefits of breastfeeding outweigh the risk of silicone leakage. There are about 1.5% chance that the implant will leak, but because silicone is not absorbed into the digestive tract, it is unlikely that it will get into breast milk.
Mothers who have undergone breast surgery need to monitor the baby's weight to determine the potential need for additional feeding. Chances are that you will not experience serious problems with breastfeeding, but even if it turns out that the milk ducts have been damaged enough to significantly reduce the production of milk, you can still breastfeed while offering supplements. Care is more than just a feeding method, so your baby can still get emotional and nutritional benefits of breastmilk even if you do not produce enough milk to feed her exclusively. All the best,- Anne, IBCLC

WOW happiness really rude! Anyways, yes you can but not always. It depends on how you heal, but the answer is yes you can.
dyna4503Of course. You just have to wait 6 months after you get implants to get pregnant to make sure they have healed properly.
AquagalThe world's most recognized authority breastfeeding, La Leche League International, a breastfeeding support - even by women with implants. it is possible to nurse with breast implants during the milk ducts have not been disconnected or blocked.
There may also be some loss of sensation or nipple sensation change if the nerves to the nipple and aureole have been disconnected. You should discuss breast-future with the surgeon performs the implant so that he / she realizes importance of breast feeding. A recent report the Institute of Medicine concluded that breastfeeding with implants is safe. If your breasts are enlarged due to underdeveloped (hypoplastic) breasts, you may have difficulty producing enough milk. Use the pump after each nursing session to stimulate production.
Can I breastfeed? It's possible, but it depends on the type of surgery you have. Incision is made below the breast fold or through the armpit should not cause problems. The most popular method, make a "smile" incision around the areola, puts you at greater risk for problems. If the nerves around the areola is not cut or damaged during surgery, you may be able to fully or partially nurse.
These nerves are important for breastfeeding because they trigger the brain to release prolactin and oxytocin, two hormones that affect milk production. Your chances of breastfeeding also improve if your milk duct system is intact. There is no evidence that silicone from silicone implants leaks into the breast milk, but even if that happens, it probably will not harm your baby. Silicone is very similar to the substance used to treat baby's abdominal gas.
submenta ...It depends on whether you are disconnected ducts. Many women have no problem with it.
ChaneyThe big question, I'm not sure but I think they just stuff the breast does not remove anythingSo my guess is probably
MOMy friend had a new baby and trying to breastfeed with implants. It is possible to do, but he had difficulty with his lines are clogged and he could not produce enough milk so she had to go to formula.

Can you breastfeed with breast implants?
AnswerYou have to wait until after you have your baby. Your breasts are not fully mature until after you're pregnant and then again after you have children again. Then you should decide whether you want to resize.According to the FDA, you may not be able to breast feed after breast implantation. Some women who undergo breast augmentation can successfully breast-feeding and some can not. Women who undergo a mastectomy will be able to breastfeed on the affected side due to the loss of breast tissue and glands that produce milk.
A study found that women with silicone gel breast implants either filled or saline-filled show of lactation insufficiency (not enough milk) ranged 28-64%. Periareolar approach (an incision around the nipple to mention) is the factor most associated with lactation insufficiency.
Speaking from personal experience, but I'm sure it depends on the individual, yes you can breastfeed with breast implants. Mine IN my muscles, I do not know if that makes a difference.
AnswerYou can breastfeed if you get an implant placed under the muscle. That's what I found through research ..
AnswerI have saline implants "above" the muscle, and I am breastfeeding my 3 week old baby managed so far! Good luck!
